What is NLP?
NLP -- Use this powerful tool for successful communication and persuasion!
NLP, or neurolinguistic programming, is a type of hypnosis derived from the hypnotic techniques used by Milton Erickson, a prominent doctor who founded the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis in 1957.
Neuro-linguistic programming uses rapport, metaphors, and individualized hypnotic procedures to produce a positive outcome.
Neuro-linguistic programming is actually used by thousands of people everyday, often without even knowing it.
Have you ever been deep in a conversation with someone and noticed you were both standing with your arms legs and hands in the same position?
In neuro-linguistic programming this is called mirroring and we do it every day without realizing it.
When you find you are mirroring one another, you are in a state of "rapport".
You can also create rapport by communicating in your partner's representational system.
Try this experiment and watch other people.
See how many mirror each other.
See if you can figure out if they are in rapport or not.
Richard Bandler, a mathemetician, and John Grinder, a linguist, developed this system in the 1970's as an outgrowth of the techniques used in Ericksonian hypnosis.
Without going into a deep discussion, what neuro-linguistic programming has become is a method of communication based on "models" or "presuppositions" that you can use for achieving goals such as personal development, learning, sports performance, improving communication skills, as well as ridding yourself of fears, anxiety and stress.
One person who has climbed to fame using neuro-linguistic programming in their coaching programs is Anthony Robbins.
NLP is often used in normal communication with others and can be thought of as conversational hypnosis.
