Phobias Can Be Fearful Things!

Decide Now to Eliminate Your Fears!

Cause of Phobias

FEAR is an acronym in the English language for "False Evidence Appearing Real"”

Neale Donald Walsch

Phobias! Even the word sounds scary!

When you have an extreme fear, or a phobia, it IS scary.

Do you suffer from any of these common phobias?

  • Fear of public places (agoraphobia)
  • Fear of flying
  • Fear of public speaking
  • Fear of crowds
  • Fear of animals, or a particular kind of animal
  • Fear of darkness
  • Fear of crossing bridges
  • Fear of heights
  • Fear of driving
  • Fear of water
  • Fear of heart attacks (or other illness)
  • Social phobia

Sounds like quite a list, doesn't it!

Believe me, this list is the tip of the iceberg. And don't feel alone.

It is estimated that 1.8 million people suffer from agoraphobia alone!

About 19.2 million people over the age of 18 suffer from some type of specific phobia in a given year!

That's a huge number.

Are you tired of letting your fears boss you around?

Then, you're ready to learn how to cure your fears with self-hypnosis.

What is the difference between simple fears and phobias?

Some fears are normal.

We are born with some fears, and that's a good thing, such as the fear of falling.

Other fears we acquire.

“Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.”

Marie Curie

Fear of getting hit by a car when you cross the street makes you more careful.

Or fear of cutting yourself helps you be more cautious when using knives and scissors.

However, some fears are irrational phobias. You may even understand that the fear or phobia you have is irrational.

Yet, your extreme fear overshadows your rational mind and you give in to the phobia.

Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we learned here.”

Fear of flying is another phobia that is common.

fear of flying

One of my clients had an uncontrollable fear of flying. She flew one time in her life and it scared her so much, she vowed she would never fly again.

She came to me because it was necessary for her to fly for her job.

We discussed her feelings about flying, when and where they took hold, and I formulated hypnosis suggestions to eliminate those feelings.

It was interesting to hear her report after she took her first flight.

She made the trip with flying colors and hasn't had a problem with flying since!

Here's the key to unlocking your phobia!

Part One -- Learn the cause of your phobia

Every phobia has a cause.

In general there are five causes for your phobia.

You may have repressed stress.

Stress can make you ill in many forms.

Stress can show itself in physical problems, such as headaches, stomach problems, heart problems, cancers, and yes...phobias.

Are you experiencing a great amount of stress in your life about an issue or situation?

For example, extreme stress in your job can lead to a fear of social situations, or fear of driving.

One of my previous students, a young lady of 18, is extremely fearful of driving. Her mother drives her wherever she goes. She is afraid of having an accident.

fear of driving

I haven't worked with Diana yet to find out where the phobia is coming from.

It could be repressed stress. She is an overachiever.

Or it could have been transmitted to her by another person.

Your phobia could be passed to you from someone else.

Did your mother always get frightened of spiders?

Did your brother always hide when there was a thunderstorm?

Did your sister scream and jump on a chair everytime she saw a mouse?

Close relatives and even friends can transmit their extreme fears to you.

You, in turn began to act the same way.

An old friend of mine was fearful of getting a serious disease, such as cancer. Her mother was always running to the doctor for every small ailment with the same fear, and that phobia was transmitted to my friend. Although I haven't seen her in years, I understand she runs from one doctor to the next for every ache and pain she has.

Next is another cause of phobias.

Negative experiences recurring over time will cause excessive anxiety and show up as a phobia in some other area of your life.

A series of negative experiences repeated over and over again can cause a phobia in another area of your life.

For example, if you were small as a child and other children picked on you, you became afraid and probably did everything you could to stay away from them.

Then when you went to middle school, you were bullied, and the cycle continued.

On top of that, if friends or relatives teased you, your self-esteem took a blow.

All these recurring negative experiences lead to low self esteem and social phobia.
Your stress caused by the teasing and bullying and the resulting low self-esteem could cause an extreme fear of being in social situations.

You may be afraid of fear!

What? Yes, you may actually have a fear of being fearful.

This type of fear extends to every aspect of your life because you restrict everything you do based on being afraid of your fear.

You gradually stay away from everything because you do not want the fear to take over. You end up being a recluse and stay away from everything in life that could possibly make you feel fearful.

What a way to live!

Your life is miserable.

Your past physical, emotional, or mental trauma can result in phobia.

An upset such as a divorce, loss of a loved one, or moving from a familiar place can be so painful that you develop a phobia.

Childhood traumas, such as being locked accidentally in a closet, or losing a beloved relative, or incest or molestation can also cause phobias.

Getting to the REASON for the phobia is the most important part of your hypnosis therapy. In many cases you will need a trained hypnotist to do age regression hypnosis in order to determine the cause of past traumas that caused the phobia.

Self hypnosis can be used as an addition to your therapy by using the post hypnotic suggestions designed especially for you.

If you want to get rid of your phobia for good, go to Part Two, How to Get Rid of Your Phobia.

"He who is not everyday conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson.
