Self Hypnosis Techniques and Tips for Successfully Achieving Your Goals!

Mastering self hypnosis techniques simply takes a little practice.

One of the most important self hypnosis techniques is to stay focused on your goal, which brings me to the first of my self hypnosis tips you should follow.

Have one concrete goal

Avoid working on more that one goal at a time. You don't want to confuse your subsconscious mind!

Your goal can be long term, such as finishing your master's thesis, or an immediate goal such as to quit biting your fingernails. If it is a long term goal, keep it chunked into sizes that you believe you can accomplish and don't attempt to do too much at once.

For example, If you need to finish your thesis, figure out how many hours you need for research. Then, formulate a suggestion that tells you to spend a certain number of hours doing research each day or week on your topic until the research is completed. (Set a time goal.)

When your research is completed, set another goal for the completion of your rough draft, and so on. You need to program your subconscious mind with the mental imagery of performing each task until it is completed. Mental imagery -- having your mind see you actually performing each suggestion is one of the most powerful of all the self hypnosis techniques!

Have a specific time frame for the accomplishment of your goal

You need to program your subconscious mind with the completion time for your goal. This is one of the self hypnosis techniques that is quite important, otherwise your subconscious will keep you going and won't know when to stop.

That is also true for the amount of time you will spend on your goal each day. If you are trying to finish your thesis, you want to tell your subconscious to work on the research for a predetermined amount of time each day. You then create a suggestions to stop working, rest, relax, an get a good night's sleep, awakening refreshed and ready again to work toward your goal.

You don't want to exhaust yourself by working on your goal night and day.

Some Words you can use to create a time frame are now, shortly, in a minute, in an hour, after an hour, today, tomorrow, tonight, next week,.

This is one of the self hypnosis techniques that creates a time frame in your subconscious to achieve your goal.

Make your suggestions simple and easy to understand

Suggestions should be clear and to the point. If they are ambiguous or too general, your subconscious mind will not know what the exact suggestion is and won't be able to act on it.

For example, if you weigh 160 pounds and want to lose 20 pounds, your suggestion should say, by October 30 (or whatever date your choose) I will weigh 140 lbs. You will then program your subconscious with the specific exercises you will perform and the foods you will eat to get to that weight.

The mental imagery you use should be seeing yourself slimmer, feeling your clothes fit looser, and hearing the compliments you will receive from others.

Use POSITIVE suggestions

Your subsconscious mind will react positively to positive suggestion and negatively to negative suggestion. Avoid such words as no,not, never, won't, will not,try or harsh jangly words. You want your subconscious to be programmed with positive happy words to create a positive outcome.

For example, instead of "I will try to quit smoking", you say "I am quitting smoking". Or, instead of saying, "I will not overeat", say "I will eat a low calorie, balance diet". Instead of "I will try to complete my thesis", say "I will complete 2 hours of thesis research every morning".

This is one of the self hypnosis techniques that is extremely important if you want a positive outcome.

Create a written self hypnosis script that is personal to you

By creating your own script, you are making goals that are specific to you and you only.

It's good to have a prewritten script to follow for guidelines, but your goals are unique to you. Only you know how to word the suggestions so that your subconscious mind will act on them efficiently.

Record your own personal self hypnosis script for best results

Once you have created your personal script for a positive outcome, the best thing to do is to record it. Your subconscious mind reacts better to suggestions from your own voice.

You want to practice your script several times, using your most relaxing, soothing voice. When you are comfortable with reading the script, you are ready to record it. You may want to use a cassette tape, or if you have gone "digital" record it into your computer and download it to your Ipod or mp3 player. You can burn it to a CD if you like. The format doesn't matter.

The only thing that's important is that you have a good recording and you can play it back to yourself, first on a daily basis and then two or three times a week, and then once a week or as needed.

You will always have your recording available whenever you need to use it. You can also use this personal recording as a sample for other goals you may want to achieve, using the same format or modifying it as you become more comfortable with creating your own inductions and suggestions.

Remember! Self hynosis is not mysterious. Self hypnosis is something everyone can do anytime to accomplish goals you may have given up on or procrastinated about doing.

These self hypnosis techniques will make it possible for you to achieve your goals if you include them in your personal self hypnosis script.
